Kiss Me Hard b4 U go! ~ Innocent looking drink ... Strongest "Move On" power ever....

Helloooo to all my readers, followers, bartenders and friends!

How are you doing? I hope very well and willing to mix & shake your life a bit!

Yes, its been "A WHILE" since my last post.... well, for all the ones who didnt know it, I moved to Montréal 2 months ago,,, Ive been  homeless (under a roof but not home per se)  for more than a month.. but now I am finally set up to start a new life and keep posting for my loyal audience,  Bien sûr!

Since #DrinkeWire has been sending me some reminders that I have been disappeared from the Artistic environment, I decided to get back my Bartending blog by posting for the Valentine's roundup!. #vday2014
Oh yeah Love is in the air? For some #Not

It took me more than a week to figure out what drink to create, the concept, the name, and yada yada yada.... 'till finally, by listening one of my recent fave songs I came up with the name of the drink /cocktail... and as the title of this post says: "Kiss Me Hard bf U go" (did you guess to what song this line belongs?)..... Voilá! thats the name... Many drinks/cocktails/ meals/desserts  under Valentine's tags are created specially for couples, but what about the single ladies and gentlemen?

Soooo this drink that I created  goes to all those who will not spend this Valentine's with a "significant other".... for whatever reason you are single... this drink goes to you! For being brave enough to resist a break up, brave at letting somebody go and  for letting the time do its job.... For being mature enough to recognize somebody is not made for you, even it hurts.... and for you who was dumped sometime and were able to move, or still working to move on.... Most of times "THAT  last kiss"  is unforgettable so lets make it last for ever...... what about that?

The "Kiss Me Hard bf  U go" is innovative in so many ways, and  its not because i made it [necessarily ;)] its actually because I had to make many variations before I considered it was fair, and fortunately approved by the testers :D !

1. The glass: Its not a rock glass, nor a shooter glass, its something in between.... but it contains 2 oz of alcohol plus some splashes and floating garnishes.
2. Its chilled but its not a martini! and You'll have to add some ice cubes anyway... to slower the "getting yourself drunk" process....
3. It looks so innocent and girly maybe? but trust me its powerful.. with just one glass of it, you'll  probably feel the effect of 2 shots bottomed up in a row ... at least...
4. The preparation: I had to play about 3 times with the order of the liquor and liqueurs, until finally I got it!

So here it goes!

Ingredients:
1. Moscato (Make sure is chilled enough) : Il Vino dell' Amore. It could work with any prosecco as well, its only that as Im working on a Valentine's drink, I chose something related to love... lol :)
2. Triple sec
3. Aperol
4. Orangerine juice: Orange & Tangerine mix
5. Grenadine
6. Strawberries
7. Ice

Preparation:
1. Chill the glass (any medium size glass 4- 5 oz capacity)
2. in a mini mixer (improvise whatever you have nearby) add 1/2 oz of triple sec and 1/2 oz of aperol
3. Shake shake shake!! the ingredients of step 2.
4. Add 2 small ice cubes in the glass and pour the shaken liqueurs of the step 2.
5. Add 1 oz of Moscato
6. 1 splash of the Orangerine juice
7. Float with granadine, (anyway it will go to the bottom since the glass is not filled up with ice)
8. Add the garnishes: strawberry thin slices that will look like similar to a heart shape. I used 4 in order to cover the ice cubes.
9. Let the starwberries to do their job: let them stand for 5 minutes aprox (optional) on the drink, this definitely will add a characteristic flavor to the drink.
10. Now time to enjoy!!

Its is easy to do! its only that there are 10 steps because i had to detail well how I reached a good, tasty, powerful and sexy drink.
Maybe guys will be more confortable without the strawberries... its up to you!

Well hope you like it! Im posting some pictures for you to see and identify the unintended layers that this drink displays .... and also some of my girly decoration lol!
Promise next time Ill creeate something for the most  "Machos"

See you soon! plz spread the word Im back!

"Honey, I'm on fire, I feel it everywhere.....Nothing scares me anymore.... (8)"....

Give a try on this Punch ~ Give yourself a break, You deserve it!

Hello followers, bartenders, mixologists, friends, apprentices, everyone!!

This time I am posting one of my simplest creations... actually it was an improvisation for a lil' event in which my skills were required and there was a limited amount of "resources"....
Ive just wanted a "KISS to prepare" cocktail.
KISS? Yes Sir!  --> Keep It Simple Stupid !

Why to make it complicated? you guys must be tired enough sometimes and the only thing you want is to enjoy life and have a refreshment... so thats why I classify the Syb's Punch (abbreviation) as a Mid Drink
Why Mid? because most of us get tired (or at least feels like) in the middle of something, so to keep pushing hard there's always necessary to have a break, a "pause".... so I invite you all to enjoy this drink on Mid week : Wednesdays Eve (Hump day), on a spring or summer midday.... or just in the middle of any complicated chore for what you crave an intermission..... or if  you want to get drunk slowly .... this is your drink!!!

So here it goes the preparation....

Sybil Rum Punch (Syb's Punch)

~Yields: 2 servings~

Its still Summer? Anyway.... always its a good time for "The Peruvian Sunshine"

Hello Everybody!!
Here I am once again with innovative drinks and some mixology!
Ive been trying to create a cocktail for enjoying the last summer days, and it just came up to my mind to use pisco in a drink recipe.
First i thought in come up with the "Sybil Punch" (a  rum based one) that i will post it later, but i made up my mind in hitting up this time with the Peruvian National liquor: Pisco! oh yeah!

So here it goes... why sunshine? because first I thought about Tequila Sunrise, taking off tequila and using pisco instead, until i realized that such drink already exists and it is called: Pisco Sunrise....

Then I thought to change some ingredients, and to switch the name to Pisco Sunset.... till i recalled there is a drink called Tequila Sunset, which uses Grapefruit juice.... and as i dont have grapefruit juice near hand in Lima, i consider not  appropriate to stick in that name. Finally, i started testing with different liqueurs and adding liquors ... till i get a different drink, with a fruity garnish whose colors remember me the shinning and burning sunlight of Mancora's Sun (Nothern Peru beach) .... so thats why eventually I came up with the name: Peruvian Sunshine.

I did the test by mixing in different ways: Pisco, Agave, and triple sec.... you must say Im crazy, yes, but there is where the fun is... in the attempt of creating something new and drinkable! :)

After giving free samples to a couple of people, the winner was:

Pisco + Triple Sec + Oranje Juice + Granadine.... Result? Just great!

If you are interested in try it on just follow the instructions bellow:

Built in "Specialties" type glass

- 1 1/4 oz Pisco
- 1/2 oz Triple sec
- Fill up the glass with Orange juice
- Splash of granadine

Garnish: Half Orange wheel and cherry (look at the picture)

First: Fill the glass with ice
Pour the pisco, and the triple sec
Fill up the glass almost to the edge with orange juice
Grab the mix tin and shake once
Splash with granadine
Place the garnish on the border of the glass.
If desire, get a straw and enjoy!!!

Hope you like it! promise to post more often....

Have a good end of summer - welcome Fall season!!

The Passionate Cosmopolitan

Hello Everyone!

Im back in the neighborhood with some news and of course interesting and delightful stuff to post :)

As many of you must already know, my fave cocktail is the famous and never old fashion "Cosmopolitan" .... In one of my many attempts of being creative when enjoying a drink... I came up with a lil' variation of the Cosmo but that definitely  makes of this something different. It resulted to be that refreshing when I tasted it that I decided this could be on my contributions for Drinkwire's SummerDrink Roundup - and of course is not the last one.

The difference relies mainly in the juice that i used, instead of only plain cranberry juice, i tried with passion fruit & cranberry juice (both in one). Also, instead of using citron vodka, I opted for regular vodka, since passion fruit is already sour enough - at least  in Peru/SouthAmerica - so It was smart to offset the sourness....
It's a cool option to enjoy in a patio or rooftop during summer. It is as much glamorous as refreshing.... If you are good at shaking cocktails you will feel it as a juice... that's precisely the point ;)

Usually drunk by female drinkers but let me tell you that I served one built in a highball glass to my dad and he loved it! A good drink never has a preset genre, but does personality. Always give it a chance to something different... I had fun trying a new version of my fave drink, and i must confess that i feel proud of have not used a jigger.... i did free pouring (without having speed pourers, btw) just by counting and controlling my wrists.... and it went  P-E-R-F-E-C-T.

Here you have the ingredients and the preparation:
Drink: Passionate Cosmopolitan
Glass: Martini Glass
Preparation: Shaken
Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 oz vodka (I used Sky)
  • 1/2 oz Triple sec
  • Cranberry & Passion Fruit Juice (Brand: La Onda, if Ocean Spray does not have such a mix, you can get both juices by separate and try to pour them at the same time in the mix tin)
  • Lime Juice
  • Ice
  • Cherries

Preparation:
1. Chill Martini glass.
2.  Fill the mix tin with ice (3 fingers)
3. Add the vodka and triple sec
4. Add the juice as much as you like, but i recommend no more than 2 oz, better try 1 1/2 oz.
5. Splash of Lime juice.
6. Shake shake shake!!!
7. Before serving, place the cherry at the bottom of the glass (no ice of course)
8. Strain the drink in the glass... and there you go enjoy!

A piece of advice: When preparing a cocktail don't go cheap with vodka! get a good one, the difference can be totally noticed! Indulge your palate and take care of your liver... no cheap vodka! :D

Soon Ill be posting about my experience in becoming a certified bartender.... the experience was so amazing and I have to say that there is lots more to learn and  this is just the beginning....

A pic of the drink that cheered me up last Friday night that i had to work at home!!
My smile could not be described....

PS. Yep, I will improve the quality of my pics!

My Fave Teaser...

Such a teaser ....yeah a TEASER! why? because it plays with you.... it looks so inoffensive, innocent and irresistible.... but only one could be enough, only one (if the Bar tender is such an artist),  for you to be "happy" and smiling in a short time....
It is one of a kind that has that "dont know what" that makes itself so darn attractive and seductive, that even me (a not huge fan of rum)  have fallen under its charming....
And the big deal here, is that if this drink is really well mixed, it becomes that refreshing that you can feel it as much smooth  and pleasant as a cold lemonade in a very hot day....

Have you guys already guessed of what I am talking about?

What else can I say about it, huuum maybe that you can feel like drinking this the whole night without getting overwhelmed and full...but the next day, you will regret on the fact of have had more than 2 , since probably you'll face one of the worst hangovers, a good one to remember.... :D Well, if the alcohol brand was high level indeed, may be the hangover will not be that awful but you'll get an annoying headache for some hours at least.... Yes, experience is talking from inside me! ;)

Some people even find this drink as one of the sexiest, and they do feel sexy at having a sip on it....Some other find sexy the ones who drink it... you can already picture out the scene in a  Lounge - Bar, at the bar corner ...well the rest is part of your imagination.....

So here it goes the recipe :)... my fave teaser definitely is the famous M - O - J - I - T - O !!!
Ive tried preparing for first time the traditional Mojito and the strawberry Mojito....  and i gotta say it is such an art to reach the point of freshness that you exactly want!!

Do you accept the challenge?

Ingredients:
crushed Ice
Fresh Lime juice
Sugar
Mint leaves, but in Spanish is Hierbabuena, which is different to Mint for us
White Rum
Mint leaves for garnish
Club soda

Preparation:
Put at the bottom of  a Collins Glass the mint, add the lime juice and the sugar, then muddle everything, avoiding the mint leaves to smash.
Add the crushed ice, stir in the rum and top off with club soda.
Finally, garnish with mint leaves and if desired a slice of lemon (optional)

Now time to enjoy! :D

Here are the pictures of my first attempt at serving Mojitos!

The Rubyberry Mimosa.... a cocktail especially thought for mom!

Well, I feel proud of introducing to you all, my first cocktail as a contributor for Drinkwire at Liquor.com.
This is also my first official post in my blog :)

When thinking in a cocktail for Mother's day... the first thing that came to my mind was: how do people usually celebrate such a lovely event? ... besides that "giving presents" thing, people eat and drink, oh yeah! and they do it a lot.... as everyone would be a mother.....it does not matter if you are a guy, you eat and drink to honor your mom, yes sir!....  So, what do people enjoy drinking along with a "massive meal"?.... mainly lunch, at least in Peru.... However, the ultimate trend is to go for a huge breakfast or also known as (a.k.a) BRUNCH!!!....

Then my brain was led to think what do people usually can drink - in alcoholic terms - when brunching... there was only one word that showed off in front of my mind: C-H-A-M-P-A-G-N-E.....
Of course that was the key.... sparkling wine :D.... It is common to find that in brunchs, all inclusive drink offers serve Mimosas and Bellinis as the shinning stars.
Since it is not innovative to copy or do the same stuff that already exists.... I went to pinterest to get some ideas, so useful indeed, since i collected lots of recipes that included champagne as main ingredient. One called my attention: the Strawberry Mimosa....as many of my female followers might suposse, it is about a Classic Mimosa variation that adds strawberries ... Now the mission was to make something like that but at Sybil's style.... what can i add or change? why not experiment with something different?
Suddenly, i thought why not use sort of different sparkling wine, no prosecco, nor asti.... then a Ruby color idea invaded the thinking scene.....

At the beginning i thought, sarcastic btw, "Wow Syb, such an innovation ...!!!"... but then i replied myself : "hey gurl it is better than nothing!!!"

So here is the recipe of my Rubyberry Mimosa.... and Ill detail how in the process I actually innovated my initial idea....

Ingredients  (for 3 flout glasses)
  • 5 big strawberries (put them in the freezer for abt 1 hour)
  • 3.5 ounces of orange juice
  • Champagne: Riccadonna Ruby (chilled for abt 4 hours at least)
  • Ice
  • Simple Syrup - as I am in Peru i used: "Jarabe de Goma"
  • 3 strawberry halves
Preparation:
In a mixer, blend the orange juice, strawberries and ice until the mix becomes smooth
Try the "smoothie" if it is so acid (it depends on the strawberries), add one spoon of syrup (jarabe de goma) and blend again.
In a chilled flout glass pour the blended smoothie, add the Ruby champagne (abt 1 ounce) per glass, stir a bit but avoiding the bubbles and foam to fade.
Decorate with the strawberry halves  (as in the picture).

And Voilá! It is ready to "Chill" indeed!! I just hope that next Sunday to be sunny enough...since this cocktail is to be drunk cold.... it has the ideal quantity  of alcohol, not strong nor that soft....

I hope you try it at home, and tell me how it went!!
I suppose if you are one of my "male followers"and not that keen on Bar tending, the best thing that you can do to get you mom "tipsy and happy" is to get her a Stella Artois or Corona, and drink with her.... without watching the game! unless she is willing to! hehe .....

This is enough by now, but i promise to post again this week, I already have on mind what to write about....

Gotta go, have a great week people! and enjoy that crazy little things that are at the reach of your hands...
Make everyday counts!!!

cheers!
Syb
